I agree that chili is a great dish to know how to make.  It is comforting, cheap, healthy and simple to make.  It is one of those foods that each cook tailors to their liking.  Beans or no beans?  Spicy hot or not so hot?  Meat or vegetarian?  Cincinnati chili starts with spaghetti layered with the chili and some ladle chili over a bed of rice.  Chili may be served plain or topped with shredded cheese, chopped cilantro or diced onion.  What ever your pleasure, chili is a crowd pleaser.
