Makeup: Classics and Newcomers

In the May issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine there is a Best List: Beauty & Style, chart of iconic colors.  These are tried and true, classic colors that flatter most and will make you happy day after day.
I swear by the Nars blush, OPI nail laquer, Mac lip pencil and Clinique lipstick colors.

Two rather new beauty products in my bag are:
These eye color sticks come in a range of 12 colors in a creamy formula that is convenient, long wearing and crease resistent. Apply with a brush or finger.  I love this product for travel or in my gym bag.

Isn't mascara mostly about the applicator?
Consider Sculpted Lash Mascara as lash artistry at its best. The “S” shaped brush grabs and thickly coats each lash, allowing you to sculpt, shape and style for a full-on, fanned-out effect. The nutrient-rich formula coats each lash from root to tip, ensuring your volume and shape lasts all day with no clumping or flaking.  (taken from the Sephora site)
It's true, no clumps and you can fan out your lashes for a great effect.  This product makes the most of skimpy lashes.

What products and colors do you depend on?

Midweek Musings

I didn't post Tuesday because I just didn't have anything to say.  But I got a haircut which alway makes me feel good and then spent the afternoon poking around shops at the mall.
I love the bright colors of workout clothes at lululemon.  Their clothes are the best and I wear them everyday to workout.  They last forever and don't need any special care in the wash.
Bobbi Brown  Rich Color Gloss
A new, pretty lipstick is a great way to lift your spirits.  The Rich Color Gloss has more pigment than a regular gloss and more shine than lipstick but not sticky.
My current obsession is this product from Kiehl's.  It is 10.5% pure vitamin C.  My skin texture has improved and it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Nothing short of surgery (maybe lasers) will get rid of wrinkles.
These two products contain copper.  Putting these on top of the product above and you've got a real team working to improve the elasticity of your skin and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.  My skin feels smoother and appears more hydrated and youthful.  I'm hooked.
I can't get enough of this Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter.  It smells and feels so good and I'll bet it would even taste good.

A little pampering makes a body feel good.

Lip Balm

I recently purchased FreshSugar Lip Treatment.  With 21 days of winter left to go, I still need a moisturizing lip balm.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment at Sephora
Sugar Lip Treatment is not a lipstick but more like a lip balm with a bit of color.  The balm has a light, citrusy scent and SPF 15 and full of all sorts of good things for your lips.  As you can see in the photo, it is light and transparent.  I love the way it makes my lips feel.  Very light and I love the scent.

Revlon Just Kissable Lip Balm Stain at Target
This Revlon product is about half the price of the Fresh product.  It is a balm and a stain.  The stain is deeper in color and not as transparent.  It does not feel quite as silky as the Fresh product but it has a much longer color staying power.

Do you get frustrated by trying many lipsticks colors on the back of your hand, and then get home and try the lipstick and HATE IT!  I have a bag full of lipsticks I wore about twice.

I read recently that you should try lipstick on the tips of your fingers as the color of your finger tips is truer to your lips than the back of your hand.   Makes sense actually.  Look at your finger tips compared to the back of your hand.
