Clever Staircases

Some of the most beautiful and graceful staircases I've seen have been in Paris.

Very few of us can boast of staircases as beautiful as the one above.  But, that doesn't mean a staircase must be boring.  A little imagination and some paint can transform dull to fun and clever.
A painted rug.
Ombre spindles
Ombre stair kickboards.
Painted stair runner.
Chalkboard paint and let your imagination run wild.
Stairs become a stack of books.
For a nautical or casual look, change up the wooden handrail with heavy rope.

Monday Musings

Happy Monday!  I saw this image on Pinterest and had to share.  I love the warm, gray color of the mug and the matte nail polish.

Speaking of color, this is the time of year I get the itch to do some interior style change and paint a room.  I'm starting out small and thinking the powder room could use a change.
I'm tired of the pistachio green.
It certainly doesn't work with my otherwise turquoise and terracotta color scheme.

So I'm looking for other color ideas.

Sunny yellow?

Do I go bold?

A little more red?
I think it will be Benjamin Moore Suntan Yellow.
This is one of my favorite colors.  It is yellow with some orange and is evokes a sunny day in Tuscany.  It will work well with  my turquoise and terracotta hues.

Well thanks for letting me run this by you.  Let me know what you all think about my choice.  What color is your powder room?

Happy Monday everyone

Decorate Like Nate Berkus

The November issue of Architectural Digest features Nate Berkus and his apartment in a 19th century Manhattan duplex that he recently renovated.

You may know Berkus from his home make-overs on The Oprah Winfrey Show or his own television show (that is no longer in production).  In his usual style, he performed his own home make-over in just three months.

Living room before.

Living room after.

Love this cozy space.

Starting October 21, you can find the Nate Berkus for Target collection.  150 items in all.  Here is a small sample.

I LOVE that gold "urchin-like" object.

Bedding

Pillows, vessels and boxes.

Are you intrigued?
