First Crop

Radishes are instant gratifiers in the garden.  Plant the seeds and you are harvesting in about 3-4 weeks. 

This is my first pick.


I like to eat radishes with butter and salt but I wanted to try something new.  I found this simple idea (so simple you don't need a recipe) from Martha Stewart.  Place sliced avocado on toasted bread and top with radish slices.  You may wish to toss the radish slices with a little olive oil and lemon juice and some salt and pepper for additional flavor.  This is a nice snack, light lunch or appetizer.  The crisp, spicy radishes are a nice contrast to the buttery avocado.
